GONE GIRL MOVIE REVIEW

GONE GIRL MOVIE REVIEW - David Fincher has directed some of the best edgy movies in recent memory including ‘Seven’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Zodiac’, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and ‘Gone Girl’. A lot of the media focused on the (supposed) central theme of a marriage that’s falling apart. But I think that’s missing the point of the movie and also perhaps the book. In reality ‘Gone Girl’, in title and plot, is about an over-the-top female protagonist who goes off the deep end to get what she wants. She’s gone, in every possible way. Gone, real gone. What do I love about this movie? The plot twists, double crosses, risk taking, smug public faces, contrasted with private lies. It takes guts to pull off a story line like this. I think this just might be a movie that pulls it off. If you’re equipped to handle liberal doses of horror, darkness, sex and violence, watch this movie.

  1. Great review. I enjoyed the twists as well. Fincher really pulled off a consistent tone for such a crazy story.
